I love that last photo, and not just because you managed to capture someone reading while they are walking - something I am yet to master.

You said you didn't really need to explain the bee holocaust, but did it look like it was human-caused?

It really saddens me when people do that. Poor things.

I think it was more of a natural disaster. A queen (I assume) had moved into a branch (and possibly some shoes) that had fallen on the middle of the footpath on my street, so I had to edge my way around the swarm each day on my way to work. They got rained on about three times, though. It was never going to work out. If you're trying to start a hive, it's all about location, location, location...
