1)
The daytime is fine, but
I can’t eat dinner alone in a café
– there is some sort of sadness about it

If I dine out alone I will eat noodle soup
So I can imagine that I am a lonely Taiwanese man
On my way home from work
Just stepped out of the miserable hot rain and mist
And into the arms of my favourite noodle cart
Where I will sit on a stool, relax for the first time all day,
and slurp steaming mouthfuls that taste like I am home
Until my bowl is empty,
and I have to leave
trying in vain
to carry a little of that warmth
Back to my empty flat.

I don’t know why I like to imagine that.

2)
According to the local rag, the cardboard tube fighting championships were on yesterday in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. If only I had known.

3)
I did cross that park today though, and someone had put a bed under the shade of a tree there. With a bedside table, complete with book. A framed picture was hung from the tree. A plush monkey was tucked into the bed.

I don't actually know anything about Taiwan.
