Meme me up, Scotty.

I'm not yet bothered to do an actual post. So here's
1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? Wrote a novel. Ish.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Didn't make any last year. I made some at the beginning of December (well, I made a list of important stuff to do), and I've already started working on those.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yep!
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? Australia. Well, if I'm not at home, I guess it counts as visiting.
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003? Love. No, I guess I didn't really lack that, although you can never have too much. Sex, then.
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The day of the protest.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? See #1
9. What was your biggest failure? See #1
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? A few colds, the flu, and a nasty case of tonsilitis. I'm good now, though. My immune system has been working out.
11. What was the best thing you bought? A loopstation! (I think it was this year)
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? The millions who flooded the streets of Sydney to protest an unjust war.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Let's start with George Bush, and follow with certain other leaders who have built a share flat half way up his arsehole. Not to mention one of the afore-mentioned's continuing sanction of abuse of asylum seekers.
14. Where did most of your money go? Into the bank.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Music. Novel writing. Possibilities.
16. What song will always remind you of 2003? Untitled #1 by Sigur Ros, and also their entire () album. Decoder Ring's self titled album. Alice Wading by the Dirty Three. Some modern classical pieces I can't remember the name of. All of the afore mentioned I listened to whilst writing to help me focus and drown out the sound of the rest of my house. Note that they have no lyrics. I shall also add on to the list all the Cat Empire and Rasta Wookie songs I heard. And the covers CD. Umm, I'll probably think of some other stuff later. But yeah, that all sounds good...
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Hard to say.
ii. thinner or fatter? I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I weighed less. But I've been eating nonstop since then. I'll say ever so slightly thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer (Monetarily).
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Writing, loving, moving out, guitar playing, socialising.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Faffing about and procrastination.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? I spent it with my extended family on my dad's side, in canberra. And it was good.
What happened to 21? Just a couple of years ago, I was asking that same question.
22. Did you fall in love in 2003? No.
23. How many one-night stands? None.
24. What was your favourite TV program? Buffy, Angel, The Wire. Marking Time.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Noone I know. I'm not big on hate.
26. What was the best book you read? I'm going to give it to the Gormenghast saga, just edging out The Corrections.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Architecture In Helsinki, and Rasta Wookie and Cat Empire live shows.
28. What did you want and get? Nothing big. Christmas presents.
30. What was your favourite film of this year? Meep! I'll come back to this one. Maybe.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was doing nothing, but Tom, Chris(BJ) and Lou (all LJ free peoples) took me out for drinks and dinner and drinks and drinks. Was fun. I don't remember it that well.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If activism had worked.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003? Fashion?
34. What kept you sane? Sane?
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I (very) briefly considered attempting to chat up the lead singer of Andromeda. Apart from that, ummm...Thora Birch, Scarlett Johansen. Ummm. I'm sure there were others, but it's a sign of how little importance i give to such things that I can't remember. Or something.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? War. And institutionalised child abuse.
37. Who did you miss? No one I loved went away for that long.
38. Who was the best new person you met? The best person? How exactly does one make such a judgement. Stupid, stupid question. I will say however, that I met a number of cool people just recently - they being
tabithina,
justinant,
juliadactyl,
furpants_tom and
danoot. I don't know them that well yet, but I sincerely hope to still be friends with them next New Years. And I shall be seeing them tonight. Woot!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003: I can do stuff, and should stop making excuses.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: No.
Some of you peeps I will see tonight. Others I will see on Friday. I will now cease use of the word "peeps".
