I was planning to join an excursion to the Harp tonight, but I am not feeling the best. Sickness must be the most posted about subject on livejournal and indeed the blogosphere, not that I hardly ever go there with my fancy-pants double negatives, simply because hey, you're sick and there's a computer right there, what else are you going to do? So I'll skip it, other than to say it's not that bad, I just didn't want to give it to other people.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Friday, which was fantastic. It was some of Danny Elfman's best work, for a start. Though I was disappointed at some of the omissions, I was delighted with all the additions that had been made to the original. I will ruin nothing. It's interesting that Johnny Depp spent such a long time avoiding big budget things because he would only get some generic pretty boy role, but has now staked out a space doing bizarre larger-than-life character parts in such movies. Needless to say, his Wonka is awesome.

As are the Oompa-Loompas. I keep imagining them doing their little moralistic song and dance numbers behind people doing stuff I even vaguely disapprove of. And also stuff I don't. I mean frankly, there's just Oompa-Loompas everywhere. *bops head from side to side in a Wonka like fashion*

Today though, today we went motorboating - we being myself, Chris, Ali, Alan (no, a different Alan) and [livejournal.com profile] mrsurlypants. Ahoy! It was in celebration of Chris's recent birthday, and very celebratory it was, despite us not having anything to light the candles with. And of course, in a sequence of mishaps that the more competent, and might I say the less piratical of you might deem scarcely believable, we lost the anchor. But of course to us, that is simply another notch in our unbroken record of hilarious equipment based mishaps on the water. Yarr!

I mean, you'd expect an anchor to be attached to a boat, wouldn't you?

Tomorrow I visit my Dad, who is also sick, so I don't have to worry about infecting him. And also the rest of my family, given they live in the same house and all. Convenient! If I am feeling well afterward, I will away to Kim and Gordy's to see what Quentin Tarantino would probably describe as "brilliant art," because he always has had a high opinion of himself. If I am sick I will go home and create brilliant art. Of course, I'm not arrogant: with me it's justified.
