The week recapped since tuesday last.
Sep. 23rd, 2003 10:02 pm*Last tuesday, as mentioned, I went and saw Ben Lee. Here's the review I just got around to writing. Lester Bangs I ain't.
( the review )
*We had a pirate theme at work last week, and bloodcurdlin' good fun it was too. Arr.
*On Saturday Owen and I went to Skabeque. It went for about 10 hours and there were six bands, all of them suitable for some serious skanking. We were both a bit sore the next day as a result, but it was well worth it. I had a great time. The dancing was way fun, the lunch was free, and we had some random conversations with interesting people, which is always a plus. All for only 12 bucks!
BTW, if anyone gets a chance to see a band called Rasta Wookie, I strongly urge that they take it. Most of the other bands on the bill that day were trad ska or ska-punk fare, but RW combined ska, dub, latin rythms, traditional Andean music, hip hop and a whole bunch more. They were really damn good too.
*On Sunday I saw 28 Days Later with Marc, Tull and Owen. Marc declared it the best zombie flic he'd ever seen, and we all heartily concurred that it was a ripping yarn, skillfully told. Tull was less than jubilant, though he appreciated the movie. I hope he's okay.
Incidentally, after junk food for lunch and dinner on Saturday, and cake for breakfast, I decided upon ice cream for lunch. Ah, life is good.
*Promises of urban exploration failed to materialise again, but oh well.
*And we've all just had a sneak preview of summer. Cool.
All in all, a pretty cool week. I am pleased.
